Dr Gary Banks is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist who has been in practice for more than 35 years. He holds graduate and post-graduate degrees in Psychology and Clinical Psychology and a Fellowship in Medical Hypnosis. His Master of Clinical Psychology degree also included extended training in Neuropsychology at the Neurosciences Institute in West Perth, and he holds a Doctorate from the Faculty of Medicine, UNSW including completion of the neuroanatomy course for neuropsychologists. He has completed the NSW Motor Accident’s Authority’s and WorkCover’s training on the assessment of permanent impairment. As a Clinical Forensic Psychologist, he routinely conducts assessments for NSW courts and tribunals and throughout Australia for clinical psychological and neuropsychological purposes. These include criminal, child protection and family law matters; personal injury and immigration reviews. He is an approved provider for the Crown Solicitor, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Legal Aid, Public Trustee, Department of Immigration & Citizenship and most insurance companies.He is appointed to the NSW Children's Court as an Authorised Clinician and also the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Courts for the preparation of Family Reports and Single Expert Reports, and is an Accredited Family Dispute Resolution Provider.In addition to a number of other clinical positions, he is a member of the Aust Academy of Forensic Sciences, the ANZ Assoc of Psychiatry, Psychology and the Law; and the Aust Institute of Criminology. He is currently Director of the Sydney Counselling Centre, an organisation assisting an extensive clinical population with a range of psychological services and is also an Honorary Clinical Associate with a number of universities providing post-graduate lecturing and supervision in clinical and forensic psychology. He has published two books and more than 40 peer-reviewed articles on a wide range of topics.
