As part of the research team at National Heart I got this opportunity to work as coordinator while working on my other projects simultaneously. I organised patient meeting,investigation schedules and reviewed the collected data for errors, fallacies and any dubious remark or statement clarifying it with the investigators and patients. -
Co-InvestigatorNational Heart Institute Aug 2009 - May 2012New Delhi Area, IndiaRIVAROXACS3001: A Randomized, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled, Event-Driven Multicenter Study to Evaluate the efficacy and Safety of Rivaroxaban in Subjects with a recent Acute Coronary Syndrome.I got the opportunity to be assess consented patients clinically before and during the regular checkups during the study and educate them about the Physiology and Pathology of their disease.Protocol No. CSPP100F2301, a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel group, active-controlled study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of both Aliskiren monotherapy and Aliskiren/Enalapril combination therapy compared to Enalapril monotherapy on marbidity and mortality in patients with Chronic Heart Failure (NYHA class II-IV). I collected patient data from investigations and examinations after randomly dividing groups of patients using a software provided. As the research team we organised several patient orientation classes and presentations to educate the cansentees about the study design and protocols. I improved upon my ability to communicate with people around me and to better understand the patients and their backgrounds.TAO Study, a randomised, double-blind, triple dummy trial to compare the efficacy of Otamixaban with Unfractionalted Heparin and Eptifibatide, in patients with unstable angina/Non ST segment elevation Myocardial infarction scheduled to undergo an early invasive strategy began recently with the thrombus inhibitor and I am learning so much by working with the team on three days a week basis to interview, examine and follow up on the patients. As part of the research team I also get to observe multiple intrathoracic and intracardiac procedures at close quarters. -

I also actively participated in the outpatient management in the 3 days a week clinics held at the hospital with a daily patient load of 60-70 cases. A weekly opd count of about 200 or more patients helps keep you on your toes and in touch with medicine.

We concentrated on the importance of EKG and I learnt loads of new intricacies in reading an Electrocardiogram, about pacemakers and Echocardiography. I got a chance to interact with the patients and hear their stories and help them better understand their condition. I was part of the grand monthly discussion and got not only to understand various aspects of management of patients by various departments and their interactions affecting the patient but also to express my own opinion. The world of research here rekindled my passion for the same.

Visiting Medical Student, Neurological Surgery.Weill Cornell Medical College Jan 2009 - Mar 2009Neurological Surgery clerkship at Weill Cornell Medical College, NY allowed me insight into a field that has always intrigued me, captured my full attention and when my application for the same was accepted I was able to shadow the various consultants and attending doctors in not only their clinics, new patient interviews and wards, but also through intensive care and the Operating Room. I got to interact with the patients in both out-patient and in-patient setting expanding both my interpersonal skills and my understanding of the workings of the hospitals in the US. I was guided by well informed residents and professors about various aspects in radiodiagnosis, patient evaluation and the various operative procedures performed allowing me to see at least two procedures completely every day. I attended seminars and conferences held at the college and the departmental presentations opening newer horizons to knowledge
