The word "dharma" does not precisely translate to English, but at its most basic means "the right path forward in one's life." Helping my patients find their paths has become foundational for why and how I practice Psychiatry. In addition to my medical training, I have studied multiple forms of psychotherapy, opened myself to wellness-based methods, explored complex topics with patients from race to spirituality, and remain open to learning more perspectives on mental health. I have learned my role as a Psychiatrist is not to "cure" but instead to join my patients on their unique paths to mental wellness.I use innovative, evidence-based biological approaches to improving mental health including medications, nutritional supplements, bright light therapy, and healthy lifestyle interventions including meditation, dietary changes, and aerobic exercise.
