Chairman is responsible to manage and lead the department under his control and to ensure that it runs smoothly academically, technically and administratively. In this respect, he is to fulfill the following tasks:o Be responsible for all department activities and assignments.o Identify the academic needs of the department and assign duties to members of staff on this basis.o Control and check the teaching material for all courses offered in the department.o Give the general headlines and overall directions to prepare the semester schedule and approve the final one.o Design a student degree requirement plan for every discipline.o Teach courses in the department to a normal maximum weekly teaching load of eight periods.o Develop teaching approaches and methods and present these to faculty members.o Check and approve student grades.o Make a test analysis for the final exam results through his deputy and the course directors.o Identify the needs of the department in terms of staff members, equipment, and other educational materials.o Interview candidates for vacant positions and make recommendations with regard to the selection of prospective members of staff.o Evaluate his deputy performance and approve all staff performance evaluations.o Recommend career development programs, visits, seminars, special programs, short courses, or scholarships for staff as appropriate.o Nominate the department deputy, course directors, and coordinatorso Nominate members for the Department Council.o Develop communication channels with industry as and when appropriate.o Cooperate with other departments with regard to matters of mutual interest.o Participate in any other activity or perform any assignment requested by the Managing Director and/or Deputy office for education and training affairs.

Investigating, troubleshooting, and taking the required decision to solve the technical issues in the automation and control area in the plant. This is in coordination with plant operation supervisor and planning section and reporting this to the maintenance manager.
