•Responsible for the development, and oversight of Bryan Health System's Diversity Program. Including the development of an annual diversity strategic plan. •Managed the activities of the 17-member Diversity Council, including recruitment, orientation and support of council members.•Role included the strategic and effective integration of the Diversity Program with Recruitment and Retention, Leadership Development, Education, Service Excellence, and Quality Patient Care programs.•Responsible for the organizational implementation of the Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services Standards.•Provided consulting to any member of management on recruitment, retention and employee relation needs of diverse employee populations.•Served as pseudo Ombudsperson for minority/immigrant employee needs.•Instrumental in the development, assessment and reporting of the findings of minority women’s health needs to BryanLGH leaders.•Provided departmental training to clinical and non-clinical staff regarding understanding and providing care to multicultural patients.•Assisted with the international recruitment of nurses from Philippines.•Developed and facilitated the Home Orientation and Acculturation of 33 nurses from the Philippines.•Created and facilitate Diversity 101 and 201; Day and a half long training for organization’s leaders and staff through BryanLGH University.•Instrumental in the creation and addition of Diversity and Cultural Competence training to New Employee Orientation, Nursing Orientation, Web based Safety Training, and Service Excellence.•Member of the Service Excellence Training design and facilitation team.•Evaluated systems, policies and practices that affect diverse employee and patient populations.•Instrumental in developing and maintaining relationships with various community agencies whose services are primarily focused to the needs of diverse individuals.
