I specialize in helping people learn how to work effectively with special needs students and their families. I am a recognized expert in autism, and have developed graduate level university courses in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). I have practical knowledge of Common Core State Standards, and how inquiry-based teaching can be used to teach to those standards

Faculty member at Brandman University.I teach masters and doctoral level courses, serve as the chair of several dissertation committees, and provide professional development to school districts in the region.

As the Education & Business Liaison, I was the main fund raiser for the Copernicus Project, a five year federal grant dedicated to improving the number, quality and diversity of science teachers. In less than five years of work, I generated over two million dollars in cash and in-kind donations to the project.In addition, I prepared and presented our 5 E learning model to hundreds of current and future teachers. I was also responsible for coordinating the action research projects of hundreds of teachers.

A a county office principal, I supervised several Community Day School sites spread over a very large geographic area. Students were sent to my schools following expulsion from the public school system, often for drug and/or criminal violations. Forty percent of my students had probation officers, and I worked closely with city and county law enforcement, and the county District Attorney in helping kids make better choices. I also served as the principal of a probation department operated residential school for juvenile offenders.I also supervised several county-operated Special Day Class (SDC) placements for severely handicapped children, supporting staff and attending IEP meetings.

In the two years I served the families in this district, I was often the go-to person for special education.I attending IEP meetings, trained staff and parents, met with the media, and worked closely with families in helping their special needs children.

I built the school enrollment from 1 student to over 100, creating annual billing of over one million dollars. I supervised a staff of 30, providing training, evaluation and support as my teachers worked with severely handicapped children.
