Detect mechanical and electrical faults by using instruments that checkcharging and starting circuitry, batteries, ignition, ignition timing, fuel injection systems, speedcontrol, cylinder compression, engine condition, braking efficiency, wheel balance and alignment.Repair and maintain the hydraulic components of diesel and petrol/gas engines that are used topower attachments such as hoists, booms, scrapers, buckets and augers. Use oxy, electric, TIG andMIG welding, hand fitting or machining processes to replace or repair faulty parts. Working mainly onCat, Bell, Komatsu and Volvo.

Approve documentation of all maintenance activities. Create improvement plans formaintenance processes. Ensure Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policies, procedures andregulations are followed. Lead technical recovery, complex fault analysis and testing of systems.Manage annual budget for the department. Manage multiple contractors to ensure safetyrequirements as well as operating and quality standards are met. Manage workshop'sperformance in achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Provide technical guidance tomaintenance teams. Recommend vendors based on proposal evaluation and cost. Review andapprove maintenance schedule and manpower plans. Review audits on maintenance, repairand overhaul operations.Qualified Heavy Duty Equipment MechanicPerform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance.Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines. Perform work as described on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance withBMW factory and BMW Center standards. Diagnose the cause of vehicle malfunctions andrecommend/perform appropriate repairs. Examine vehicles to identify necessary repair ormaintenance items that may not be included on the repair order and communicate to ServiceAdvisor. Communicate with the Parts Department to obtain needed parts. Notify Group Leaderand/or Service Advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined on repair orderis not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed by the time promised. Clearly and accuratelydocument all work performed. Road test vehicles as required, or refer to the inspectiontechnician as appropriate. Attend and successfully complete factory training as required byBMW Center. Follow warranty material disposition procedures. Understand and follow federal,state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.

Test drive vehicles to ensure repairs are properly completed. Update maintenance and repairlogs. Assist with inventory maintenance of replacement parts and equipment.
