Senior Mechanical Designer
Current• Successfully manage the mechanical design of complex specialized electronic equipment for the broadcast industry, including project development; design; prototyping; product assembly; technical conformance; customer, vendor, and ‘turn-key’ contract manufacturers interface; quality assurance; scheduling; packaging; and delivery.• Assure product Design For Manufacturability (DFM) while improving efficiency by addressing issues early in the design cycle, ensuring functional results consistent with best manufacturing practices, and maintaining design standards and cost effectiveness.• Designed an innovative mounting technique that used a machined bezel to integrate a large LCD display that previously had been restricted by front panel size. The design exceeded customer expectations and later won multiple awards.• Support sales and marketing by creating artwork, technical illustrations, and graphics for product promotion.• Solve production problems by providing assemblers with on-the-fly responses and efficient solutions thereby ensuring “just-in-time” shipping is met.• Coordinate with the principle hardware engineer and the PCB CAD designer to ensure that PCB and mechanical assemblies fit together without interference.• Maintain documentation support for all current and new products; create part numbers, BOM’S, and ECO’s; and generate, manage, and archive all CAD files and support documents.• Collaborate with the Test and Technical Service Group by designing and building test fixtures and fabricating custom parts as necessary.
