I was fortunate to have Prof. Amin Tjoa as my external evaluator for the PhD defence. The research work proposes a layered model for SLA-based service management in Cloud Systems. Starting from user-directed service selection and negotiation for automated workflow generation, it introduces notions such as SLA Choreography, SLA Aggregation, Hierarchical SLA value chains, SLA validation and hybrid trust models based on reputation and PKI based trust schemas. The POC implementations utilize heuristic and branch and bound algorithms plugged within rule based multi agent systems. Rule Responder, Mule ESB, and Kepler workflow tool are some of the key technologies employed.
