Stepping away from the traditional career ladder and moving to Portugal, I will focus on eco-conscious living and modern off-grid homesteading practices. Keywords are rural sustainability, self-sufficiency and a regenerative lifestyle in harmony with nature. I will be fostering a connection to the land, and reconnecting with a spirit of freedom. And more importantly, I will be living life in the sun ;-)

As coordinator I am running a small team during a pilot year to explore, develop and improve knowledge management and learning. The aim is to ensure that project-based learning becomes organizational learning, and that knowledge is then used to continuously improve programming, business development, and influencing.

SNV works on inclusive, sustainable and resilient food systems that provide diverse nutritious food within planetary boundaries. In my position as global advisor I work with the team to develop and implement a sound approach. My key responsibilities are: i) To develop and maintain a framework and methodological approach; ii) To incorporate an approach to systems transformation; iii) To create a system to design and measure impact; iv) To support a quality management approach.

As part of the SNV Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation unit and working within the Global Agriculture Team I support the agriculture sector and product development processes specifically on theory of change and results frameworks. Next to this I provide support to project design and proposal development; I support the update, roll-out and maintenance of SNV’s PME procedures and tools; I provide general capacity strengthening support to country-based teams in PME methods, as well as backstopping support to projects on PME planning, delivery, quality assurance and analysis including evaluations.

As senior advisor Design & Impact I work towards ascertaining how and how much WWF contributes to achieving conservation impact. Additionally I work towards understanding which conservation strategies work best, and how we can maximise our effectiveness by developing appropriate conservation approaches including key themes like inclusive conservation, climate resilience, and applying an integrated landscape approach. My work also covers the evaluations and evaluation policy in WWF.

As Monitoring Evaluation Research and Learning Manager I am part of the STARS program’s management team and specifically responsible for the development and implementation of the learning agenda of the STARS program. This involves creating, sharing, using and managing the knowledge generated and lessons learnt in the program. Next to this I am responsible for all MERL implementation in the program, and to manage a team of MERL officers in all implementing countries, including doing performance reviews, training and mentoring.

In this position I lead the development and implementation of the STARS program's performance measurement and learning framework. As coordinator I am responsible for the overarching Monitoring Evaluation and Learning framework design in all four program countries. Next to this I supervise the implementation in Rwanda, Ethiopia, Senegal and Burkina Faso.

I am part of the Inclusive Markets team at ICCO Global Office, with a specialization in Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL). I design Monitoring & Result Measurement plans according to the DCED standard for Markets for the Poor (M4P) programs and Public Private Partnerships. Projects mostly deal with market opportunities, agricultural productivity, farm income and food security. Examples are the PROOFS program in Bangladesh and the AIM partnership in Africa.Next to this I work on the annual planning and reporting cycle, on IATI implementation, I develop Terms of References for evaluations and supervise the work, and I take part in MFSII Alliances (ICCO and WASH Alliance).

I worked in a small team on the Conn@ct.Now Outcome Report. I coordinated the collection and aggregation of monitoring data by the War Child country offices and alliance partners, and analyzed the quantitative and qualitative data. I produced figures and texts for the final Outcome Report as part of the Annual Report.

As Lead Auditor I worked with medium to large companies in the Benelux to properly implement the chain of custody of certified sustainable Rainforest Alliance coffee, tea, cocoa and fruits. For this, I liaised with companies, worked out budgets, analyzed procedures and methods, performed on-site evaluations with e.g. coffee roasters and the cocoa-processing industry, and wrote certification reports.

This was an assignment for the Centre for Development Innovation (Wageningen University) and concerned the "MFS II Joint Evaluations of Development Interventions," a WOTRO call on behalf of the combined development organizations for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As member of the research team I did the analyses and wrote the final reports on capacity development in Indonesia.

Vida Rica is an award-winning private initiative aimed at wild rubber from the Amazon. The goal was to improve the socio-economic position of marginalized groups (rubber tappers), and contribute to the preservation of the Amazonian rainforest. We followed a commercial approach based on People, Planet and Profit. Project management focused on developing the business plan and on the import, production, marketing and branding of the products.

My responsibilities at the Ministry were:1) Co-ordinator for a national impact assessment (Effects Analysis National Waters).2) Secretary to the Programmatic Approach to Nitrogen program. 3) Administrative representative for Natura 2000 in the provinces of Limburg, North Brabant and Zeeland.

I conducted an external evaluation of the "Fortenmaand" for the New Dutch Waterline administration. The New Dutch Waterline is one of the National Landscapes. Using desk top research, surveys and interviews, we looked into target realization and gave recommendations on efficiency and professionalization.

As project coordinator for the Ministry I organized the deployment of a team of 7 to 14 people working to generate a personal reply to 5000+ grievances submitted by citizens after designation of a conservation status to private land.

I conducted a critical review of the application of Ecosystem Management in forest management in the Netherlands. Substantive focus was on the socio-political framework and the development of natural regeneration. This research awarded me the PhD title.
