As a student, I have witnessed an educational divide, particularly among refugees and immigrants from low-income families. These children don’t have access to any form of learning support outside of a classroom, creating a gap in access to learning resources based on family income. After recognizing this challenge, I wanted to find a solution that helps the current & upcoming generation of high school students. My objective is to provide a support system that enhances student learning beyond the classroom. In response to this challenge, I founded the Fairbanks Ridge Tutoring Club, where I tutor, guide & mentor refugees in a low-income neighborhood with any subject. I have also encouraged many classmates to join this initiative to bridge this educational gap. The club aims to be an academic session and an engaging & supportive environment. By providing these resources to low-income students, we’ve ensured that their financial plight wouldn’t hinder educational access & academic success.
