The Commercial Committee is responsible for developing new markets and business opportunities, including acquisitions and new product development.

I was responsible to the Board as the “champion” for the vision and strategy of the ITC Group to ensure delivery of shareholder value, and the development of new educational entities to service the global private education and training sector and for securing international consulting projects. Key achievements:• Established ‘export revenue’ activities which increased from 10% to 75% of total revenue in seven years.• Changed the culture of ITC Ltd from ‘grant dependency and technology driven’ to ‘client focussed and market sensitive’. • Restructured and divisionalised seven companies and sixteen business entities into a single corporate structure.• Established UOWD in Dubai (1993), Wollongong College Australia (1994) with branches in Sydney and Auckland (NZ), the Australian School of European Aviation (2008) and acquired the International Film School Sydney (2008) and Avondale Flying School (2008).

As Vice President, I was responsible to the Vice Chancellor & President for sales and marketing to achieve international and domestic student recruitment targets; Government and international relations; fund raising; and media and publications.Key achievements:• Established ‘export revenue’ activities which increased from 0% to 30% of total revenue in seven years.• Developed corporate strategies to achieve shareholder and stakeholder expectations and ensure appropriate commercial returns.• Broadened the business base from a regional dependency to include Government, Private Sector and international clients enabling sustained growth.• Established University of Wollongong in Dubai (1993).

IDP Education Pty Ltd (IDP) is a global company offering student placement and English language testing services. It was established by Australian Universities in 1969 with half its equity owned by 38 Australian universities, the other half owned by SEEK Ltd, Australia’s leading online employment and training provider. Using its network IDP places international students into Australian educational institutions. IDP is a partner in IELTS offering the world’s leading English language proficiency test. IDP’s fellow IELTS partners are the British Council and Cambridge University.

I was the 'lead' adviser for this project in Doha, Qatar, both for the design of the academy buildings as well as its curriculum and was a member of the Board until it was sold in 2008. I led the international search for the first two Directors of the Academy.
