Jay Watts (She/They) is a Sexuality & Diversity Scholar as well as the CEO/Founder of The Center for Empowered Sexual Wellness & DiversiFirm Group LLC. l She has a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education from the University of Louisville; Masters of Art in Human Services from Eastern Kentucky University; Masters of Education in Cultural Foundations of Education; and completed with a PhD in Mental Health with a focus in Sexuality from Walden University in 2023. They have over a decade in Sexuality and Justice, Diversity, Equity & Belonging professional work.Jay works in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion and sexual wellness. She has successfully been able to blend the tend for transformative work with individuals, non-profits, companies, and organizations around the world. With over 10 years of experience in health equity and sexual wellness , she has also professionally tailored her expertise to support JDEI work in sex counseling in various settings, populations, and clinical needs, Jay brings extensive knowledge and background. Jay is a Certified and Board-Approved Sexologist through World Association of Sex Coaches and the American College of Sexologists International, American Board of Sexology, and she is finalizing completion of her AASECT Sex Counseling certification. She is also the founder of The Jilan Center: a healing justice non-profit focused in sexual wellness, racial healing, recovery, and community power-building. Jay is a cultural research with a prolific peer-review publication history. Her academic journals and writing can be found in the Diverse: Issues in Higher Education; Encyclopedia of Social Justice & Diversity; Journal of Social Research; ScholarWorks; and three in progress publications in culture and sexuality. Dr. Jay tailored her doctoral research sexual wellness of Black women and is furthering her endeavors by researching best practices for working with Muslim women in sexual health and wellness spaces as well as progressive Islamic support that is inclusive of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Higher education continues to be her passion within organizational justice, so she has began to work with colleagues on the viability of the Diffusion of Innovation Model in DEI resistant communities.
