At the Ophthalmic Biophysics Center of the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami, my work involves a variety of activities aimed at advancing the understanding and treatment of ophthalmic conditions. One of my primary responsibilities is conducting in-vitro molecular and microbiological studies. These studies involve analyzing biological samples such as tissues, cells, and fluids in a controlled laboratory setting. By examining these samples at a molecular and microbial level, we can gain insights into the mechanisms underlying ophthalmic conditions and develop new strategies for their diagnosis and treatment.In addition to my work with in-vitro studies, I also perform surgical and non-surgical procedures for ex-vivo studies. Ex-vivo studies involve analyzing biological samples outside of the body, often after they have been removed during surgery or biopsy. By performing these procedures, I am able to contribute to the development of new approaches for treating ophthalmic conditions, such as designing and testing new surgical techniques or assessing the effectiveness of potential therapeutic agents.Overall, my work at the Ophthalmic Biophysics Center is focused on pushing the boundaries of ophthalmic research and developing innovative approaches to improve patient outcomes. Through my in-vitro and ex-vivo studies, I am able to contribute to the ongoing efforts of the Center to advance our understanding of ophthalmic conditions and develop new therapies that can make a real difference in patients' lives.
