Responsibilities included: insurance verification, admissions intake, conducting initial psychosocial assessments, assessing for risk of suicidality, formulating case notes, conducting individual, group, couple, and family counseling sessions, participating in and leading multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, case management, and discharge planning. Patients served met diagnostic criteria for: severe mental illness, substance abuse, dementia, and dual diagnosis, as well as cognitive and physical disabilities. Population demographics include: young adult, adult, geriatric, with varying incomes and homeless. Services provided in an acute psychiatric Baker Act (involuntary placement) receiving facility. Essential to providing optimal care was collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team for patient care and treatment plan review.

Responsibilities included: maintaining student records, participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, consulting with parents and other staff, writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), creating lessons for all core subjects, developing life skills programs across varying levels, assessing and monitoring progress, incorporating strategies to assist with learning of new material, and writing grants for funding. This position also offered the opportunity to instruct students, aged 14-22, meeting diagnostic criteria for Traumatic Brain Injury, Asperger’s Disorder, Mental Retardation, Emotional/ Behavioral Disorder, learning disabilities, various mental illnesses including: Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia, as well as other disabilities including epilepsy and mobility issues.

Responsibilities included: conducting admission intakes, completing psychosocials, completing genograms, conducting 5 Axis diagnoses, assessing for risk of suicidality, verification of insurance, preparation of case notes, and development of treatment plans. Population demographics included children aged 2-13 meeting diagnostic criteria for Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Depression, and learning disabilities.

Responsibilities included: translating forms, informational resources, and workbook activities from English to Spanish, participating in Group and Individual sessions, and translating polygraph testing. Clients served were registered sex offenders in court mandated outpatient treatment as part of sentencing or release from incarceration.

Responsibilities included: counseling to at-risk youth as either part of their probation or in order to avoid criminal charges which included biweekly client contact, case management responsibilities in the form of youth progress, and termination of services reporting. A resiliency-based model was used.
