Mixed pulmonology and anesthesiology critical care group providing high intensity (24 hour) physician staffing over 80 ICU beds across four ICUs, at a 657 bed tertiary referral center (Tristar Centennial Medical Center).- Our population included High Risk Obstetric and Bone Marrow Transplant patients.- In the cardiovascular ICUs, I frequently managed intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) and Impella devices, and Targeted Temperature Management (previously 'therapeutic hypothermia') after cardiac arrest.- In the Neuro ICU, I frequently managed acute strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhages (SAH), and aneurysms including endovascular and open clippings, as well as preop/postop craniotomies and spine surgeries, in conjunction with neurosurgery and neurology in the Neuro ICU.- I conducted daily academic multidisciplinary attending rounds which include patients & families.- Our practice implemented protocols for targeted sedation with sedation scores, daily combined sedation holidays (SAT) and spontaneous breathing trials (SBT), and early mobility (ABCDE bundle).- I did all of my own bedside focused echo, lung ultrasound and FAST exams, central lines, arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, hemodialysis catheters, chest tubes, lumbar spinal (CSF) drains, and bedside bronchoscopies.
