James (Jimmy) R. Walters, Ed.D., is an accomplished visionary leader, published author, thought leader on Catholic Fatherhood, Human Rights Advocate and Retreat and Strategic Planning Facilitator.Before joining advocacy work at the UN in 2022, representing the Sisters of Charity Federation, Walters spent nearly 20 years in Catholic Higher Education, Ministry, Scholarship, and Faith Formation for youth, young adults, and college students. Committed to transformative leadership, Walters incorporates spirituality and Appreciative Inquiry and related organizational development models to invoke change. Walters has worked with educational leaders, superintendents, faculty, and parents in Catholic education.Walters is the author of Batter Up: Answering the Call of Faith & Fatherhood (2022, New City Press), celebrating the vocation of being a dad, and Dreams Come True: Discovering God's Vision For Your Life (2020, New City Press), which invites the utilization of Appreciative Inquiry in forming one's spiritual identity, discerning one's vocation, and transformative service to the community. Walters also manages Home Run Dads, a spirituality blog on fatherhood, and manages the podcast, Home Run Fathers.Walters is also a leader in the Vincentian family. He has presented on the Vincentian charism to international audiences, served as the Convener for the 2023 North American Vincentian Family Gathering, and serves with the Vincentian Family at the UN, contributing to the FamVin website. Walters collaborates with the 13 congregations of the Sisters of Charity Federation in advocacy and activism.Walters presents on the local, national, and global level on Catholic/Faith advocacy at the UN, Fatherhood, Appreciative Inquiry and Faith, Spirituality, and Faith-based Leadership.Walters was the first Director of the nationally recognized and award winning Catholic Scholars Program as well as the Director of Residence Ministry at St. John's University (NY). He was also faculty in the Graduate School of Education and the Institute for Core Studies and continues to work closely with the Archdiocese of New York and the Diocese of Brooklyn in faith formation.Walters is married to the love of his life, Suzie, and they have two beautiful daughters, Shea and Lily.
