Dr. Jim Rudd is Partner, Vice President of Research at Watermark Digital. Over the course of his career, Jim counts many of the Fortune 500 companies as current or past clients including CPG, travel and transportation, media and entertainment, and financial services among others. Jim works as a digital consultant, and he has expertise in strategy, design, digital analytics, user research and usability. Under Jim’s executive leadership, IBM Interactive emerged as one of the world’s premier digital agencies, ranked #1 by Advertising Age world-wide by revenue in 2014.Jim was one of the founding principals of IBM Interactive (IBMi), and helped establish IBM’s first interactive practice within IBM Consulting Group in 1994. Jim also served in the role of CTO, IBM Interactive, Practice Leader, Customer Experience Strategy, and Chief Digital Officer, IBMix in his 30-year career in IBM’s consulting group. Jim was the primary author of IBM Interactive’s early digital design methodology and led the creation and evolution of IBMi offerings, which include strategy, creative, UX design, digital development (mobile, social, web) and transformation, analytics, usability, and live sporting events.In 2005, Jim was recognized as one of IBM’s top technical leaders by being named an IBM Distinguished Engineer. Jim holds a Ph.D. in psychology from Virginia Tech, making him the first psychologist in the history of IBM to be named a Distinguished Engineer.Jim is past President of the Board of Certification for Professional Ergonomics, the largest software user experience professional certifying organization in the world.Jim has received 24 patents and has published dozens of technical articles including co-author of a book and several book chapters.Dr. Rudd received his Masters in Computer Science from UNCC, his Ph.D.in Cognitive Psychology from Virginia Tech. and graduated from Drake University with a B.A., summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
