- Responsible for timely assessment, formulation and short term psychological intervention to patients on an acute adult inpatient ward.

- Providing rapid access to psychiatric and/or psychological triage, assessment, diagnosis and psychological treatment to frontline NHS staff working for local Trusts in a pioneering service by staff for staff ‘in house’.- Short to medium term targeted and evidence based psychological therapies, provided with the support of a specialist MDT of nursing, psychiatry, GP and occupational health services.- Therapeutic work and team working all carried out remotely via video call.- Contributing to specialist extended occupational health services. Included service and managerial level discussions about fitness to practise as well as negotiation of the working week to aid and encourage improvement in psychological wellbeing for colleagues.- Working within a confidential structure oftentimes involving senior and well established colleagues within the trust, where at times priority treatment for staff could be possible, based on psychological need and assessment.- As I joined this service at an early point of its’ formation, I was involved in a range of service related development which helped to shape the service that the SMHS was able to offer, as well as it’s future direction.

Since 2013, I have been part of a large multidisciplinary team working within the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway to engage prisoners with a 5 year intensive treatment programme. Therapy is designed to meet the needs of individuals who have a diagnosis of two or more severe personality disorders and / or psychopathy and have high levels of risk of future offending.My role includes weekly individual therapy alongside the following group therapy interventions; human relationships, personality disorder awareness, schema therapy, cognitive interpersonal group, interpersonal relationships, addictive behaviours and offence focused therapy. I supervise clinical colleagues as well as operational staff.The Fens Unit predominately utilises the cognitive interpersonal model of treatment. This involves actively providing emotionally honest feedback for prisoners’ interpersonal style in order to increase awareness of the emotional impact of their behaviour. Schema therapy is also heavily integrated into the model and is utilised in groups, landing interactions and individual therapy.My responsibilities, in addition to my core role in the team, include being the lead for officer supervision within the training and development committee; which includes facilitating a monthly reflective practice group. I represent the Fens Unit within the wider prison in both the Interdepartmental Public Protection Meeting and the Equalities Action Team. I am the Safeguarding Children Link Worker for CPFT. I am the HMP Whitemoor PiPP (LGBT Network) representative and I am also the contact for, and represent, gay, bisexual and transgender prisoners within the prison. I also take the lead for neuropsychological assessment and in order to develop my skills in this area I have been accepted for an MSc. Clinical Neuropsychology later in the year. I am also due to attend level 1 sensorimotor psychotherapy training in March 2017.

Supervision of assistant, managers, colleagues and trainees.- Risk assessment of both clinical and imminent risk to self and forensic oriented risk to others. A combination of clinical judgement and formal assessment measures used to communicate with teams and safely plan discharge from hospital as well as future input from services.- Working with Ministry of Defence (MOD) personnel whilst inpatient on MOD ward; liaising with related bodies / organisations regarding fitness to continue role in military as well as ongoing treatment needs. Recognising unique challenges faced within such roles.- Identification, selection and administration of neuropsychological tests for brief assessment of cognitive functioning and memory, as well as training of others in their use and application.- Considerable experience of engagement, assessment and formulation with non-English speakers via the use of interpreters.

I worked into the male and female assessment and treatment inpatient mental health units in the John Connolly Wing of Ealing Hospital. I was responsible for the assessment, formulation and intervention of short term psychological intervention to all patients across the wards where necessary. I provided supervision for a trainee and represented our team in senior management meetings in relation to ward development. I completed neuropsychological and forensic risk assessment. Ongoing co-working with Consultant Psychiatrists across the four teams.My responsibilities, in addition to my core role in the psychology team, included developing and introducing a referral system within the wards to access psychology. A multitude of multidisciplinary working in psycho-education and staff training in the intervention and management of patients. Due to location of the hospital, we had a large population of non-English speaking patients, and patients from different cultures and backgrounds.

Three month internship (6 days a week) in the Department of Clinical Psychology completed at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) Bangalore, India. NIMHANS is an internationally recognised government run centre for mental health as well as an accredited university. One month postings were completed in each of the following areas: Adult Psychiatry, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Neuropsychology.

Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (University of Hull) consisting of three core components; academic study; placement experience and research which are developed over a three year time period. The academic study is a combination of three key phases; one-to-one interpersonal assessment and therapeutic skills; interdisciplinary and interagency collaborative, networking and consultancy skills; and consolidation / development of advanced skills such as those required in the management of complex problems, as well as specific client group specialisation. Six, six month placements were completed covering older adults, learning disabilities, community services and adult mental health. Two specialist placements were the completed in a women’s forensic (low secure) rehabilitation unit and a children’s trauma team.

Full time voluntary role to provide resources, information, and support to clubhouse members and the public over the phone or in person. Also participate in groups and recreational activities designed to enhance social and communication skills, such as poetry, reading and writing, and trips to museums and parks. I also helped to run and participate in a service user led trauma recovery group therapy sessions.

1.5 days per week working in the Clinical Forensic Psychology Department alongside qualified clinical/ forensic psychologists. Gathered considerable knowledge and experience of clinical psychology career pathway. Completed a clinical audit regarding job roles within the service whereby findings were fed back into the service.

Working with a volunteer programme developed by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service called ‘Family Effectiveness Training’ for children with ADHD or attention difficulties. Home visits to the children's home to teach and build on psychologically informed strategies for controlling behaviour, increase communication within families and learning from experience.

Working with a volunteer programme in a school for ‘underserved’ children in the local community in Bangalore, India. I was involved in designing lesson plans, teaching and additional support for children who required it. Often the children were homeless and the only member of their family to attend any formal education. I recognised the need within the school environment for informal counselling for which I devised a model and delivered the support.

Working with a volunteer programme mentoring a ‘Looked after Child’ on a weekly 1:1 basis. The role included multiagency liaison between the child’s family, school and the care system, in particular my role included advocacy for the child’s needs and best interests.
