John Leung, MD, AGAF, FACAAI, is the founding physician of Boston Food Allergy Center/Boston Specialists and a fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association. Dr. Leung attended medical school at the University of Michigan Medical School and completed his internal medicine residency at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He then completed a 4-year clinical and research Gastroenterology fellowship at Tufts Medical Center, followed by an Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He was the first US-trained physician triple board-certified in Allergy/Immunology, Gastroenterology, and Internal Medicine. He has had a highly productive academic career. He was the former director of the Center for Food Related Disease at Tufts Medical Center, former director of the Pediatric Food Allergy Center at Tufts Children's Hospital, assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Medicine at Tufts University, and an affiliated faculty of Tufts Institute for Innovation. In those roles, he was the site principal investigator for multiple NIH-funded and pharmaceutical-sponsored research studies. He has coauthored more than 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts, scientific abstracts, book chapters, and online tutorials. In 2015, Dr. Leung founded Boston Specialists, an interdisciplinary practice that embraces an integrative approach to healthcare. This center brings together various specialists, registered dietitians, and a dedicated pharmacist, working collaboratively to meet the needs of their patients. The clinic also boasts a robust research initiative, which actively enrolls patients from across New England in clinical trials. In 2024, Dr. Leung founded Boston Specialists Endoscopy Center to improve accessibility for his patients and streamline their healthcare experience.
