In Prof. Dr. Wolf B. Frommer's lab, As part of the "Phloem Development" team at the Institute for Molecular Physiology, in collaboration with the Institute of Synthetic Biology and with the supervision of Dr. Ji-Yun Kim, we are working on an exciting new project focused on engineering a new route for efficient phloem loading in Arabidopsis thaliana. To achieve this goal, we are utilizing cutting-edge optogenetic tools (PULSE Optogenetic Tools), which allow us to precisely control the activity of key genes involved in the loading process. By carefully optimizing these tools and developing new approaches to their application, we aim to develop a more efficient and effective way of phloem loading in Arabidopsis, which could have important implications for the agricultural and biotechnology industries.
