Area Medical Director for the Clarkson Eyecare practices in Minnesota, surrounding the MSP metro area. Combination of remote and in-person duties.

Serving as regional medical director for all the Clarkson Eyecare offices in Michigan: currently 18 offices and 27 doctors. Responsible for hiring doctors, and keeping each office staffed with optometrists. Create doctor schedules for the hub, approve time off for doctors. Responsibility for clinical care standard, auditing charts, equipment purchases. Proficient with spreadsheets and PowerBI. Minor role in acquisition of new, medical model optometry practices. Instrumental in creating network efficiencies between optometry and ophthalmology practices withing Eyecare Partners practices in Michigan.

Providing comprehensive eye exams and specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of many ocular conditions, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, ocular surface disease and allergies, diabetic eye exams, and urgent care. Provided contact lenses services including multifocal lenses and specialty contact lenses, such as RGP lenses, scleral lenses, ortho-keratology and Synergeyes. Participated in several clinical research studies for contact lenses. Coordinated and co-managed post-operative surgical procedures such as cataract surgery, PRK and LASIK. Involved expanding the dry eye clinic, incorporating nutraceuticals and amniotic membranes into treatment protocols.

Working with the 16 committees and 2 sub-committees of the Medical Executive Board, Chair of Optometry. Overseeing and collaborating with a wide team of doctors and staff across a 1000+ doctor company. Coordinating patient care standards, business goals, and strategy within Eyecare Partners - both Optometry and Ophthalmology divisions.

Contact Lens Research - Research MEB sub-committee

Providing optometric care to inmates within the FCI and FDC in Milan.

Provided comprehensive eye exams and specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of many ocular conditions, including pediatric care and vision therapy. Coordinated care with other health professionals. Worked with refracting technicians seeing up to 6 patients per hour. Skilled in interpreting diagnostic tests such as visual fields, Optomap, OCT, VEP and PERG.

Provided full scope primary eye care services, contact lenses services, medical optometry and urgent care services to the Lake Orion community.

Provided full-scope optometric care to veterans in Western New York. Diagnosed, managed and co-managed many ocular conditions, especially glaucoma and macular degeneration. Occasionally traveled to the Buffalo VAMC Low Vision clinic to provide care for low vision patients. Increased efficiency in all areas, including performing exams with the aid of a technician to better simulate a doctor’s patient load. Gained experience in interpreting results from the OCT and HVF. Performed inpatient exams on a routine basis.

Provided primary care and specialty contact lens services in the Accent Eye Care private practice. Skilled in fitting soft contact lenses, including torics and multifocals. Experienced in fitting hybrid contacts and rigid gas-permeable lenses. Some experience with semi-scleral lenses (Rose K2 XL). Certified in Kerasoft IC soft lenses for keratoconus. Increased skills in diagnosing, treating, and co-managing ocular diseases and prescribing medications (oral and topical). Increased experience in conducting pediatric exams before entering the VT program. Gained experience in billing and coding exams. Attended many classes on practice management, new optical technologies and met with many different pharmaceutical and nutritional reps to remain current, build relationships and become proficient in choosing and prescribing medications.Trained incoming interns in use of the EMR, automated phoropters, ancillary equipment and exam flow through the practice. Assisted in converting the practice to paper-free model. Gained experience in charting, billing and coding by being responsible to check every patient chart for completeness and accuracy daily.
