Optimal Psychological Services specifically provided psychological evaluations for the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS); therefore, many of my assessments were specifically referred for parental fitness, child custody, abuse or neglect, substance abuse, and domestic violence. Upon conducting evaluations, I generally wrote reports for contract agencies, courts, or school referral sources; though, some of the referrals were self-referred. Show less

Intern responsibilities included managing twenty client contact hours per week, fulfilling documentation and billing requirements, and facilitating community presentations on such topics as behavior management and preventing child sexual abuse. My caseload included children and adolescents of diverse ethnic and socio economic backgrounds with most being involved with foster care or post-adopt. Client diagnoses ranged from reactive attachment disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and pediatric bi-polar disorder, with all having a history of trauma and/or neglect. Additional training and experience included conducting multidisciplinary specialty psychological assessments and psycho-sexual evaluations. As clinical rotations, I also had the opportunity to conduct psycho-sexual assessments at the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center, observe therapists within the Employee Assistance Program, and facilitate fitness groups at Hope Children’s Hospital. Supervision and didactics were a high priority at AFCN-CTTP, thus I received three one-hour individual supervision sessions per week, two hours of group supervision weekly, and two hours of didactic trainings each week (in diagnostic assessment, play and art therapy, and cultural diversity).
