I lead the Cyber Security strategy for DevSecOps and Software Engineering Security in Vodafone - my objective is to advance our vulnerability management, automation and AI strategy. My purpose is to make every day awesome for everyone.I love innovation and innovators. If something doesn’t exist, I bring the right people together to create it. If we f̶a̶i̶l̶ try and don’t succeed, we pivot and try again. My path to Cyber Security has been a wiggly one. I used to think this was a bad thing until I learned from other women in Cyber that this is a common theme for so many. I’m now immensely proud of what I’ve achieved - read about it here, in my brag bag.Since joining Vodafone in 2018, I decreased vulnerabilities by 96% and increased DevSecOps knowledge by 5000% by bringing DevSecOps into the heart of Vodafone’s Tech2025 Strategy. I built and own the DevSecOps Cyber Security Baseline control for assessing compliance in 26 markets. I wrote and govern the Global DevSecOps Standards (Secure Web App, API Security, Secure Agile Development) as well as RFPs, pilots and operations for SCA, SAST etc. Additionally, I led the LPM agile transformation across Cyber, developing automated DevSecOps pipelines and workload tracking, saving multiple millions a year. I also sit on the Vodafone AI Governance Board.Many years ago, I taught myself how to write code by breaking a keyboard to understand how it worked. This curiosity led me to me building some of the world’s first websites and then some of the first viral mobile applications two decades later. Somewhere in between, I designed Gold Award electronic performance support systems for the US NAVY. I moved to the UK f̶o̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶u̶n̶s̶h̶i̶n̶e̶ to successfully complete a PhD in Computer Science. My research into tangible, ubiquitous, wearable and mobile interaction design is widely cited in internationally-renowned publications (e.g. IEEE, BCS, ACM) and I have keynoted and chaired several world-leading conferences (Computing, HCI, Art & Science). My work has been exhibited internationally (Berkley Art Museum, London Science Museum, Powerhouse Museum). I directed several TechCity startups - from mobile application development to large-scale interactive art at festivals. I picked up awards along the way including Entrepreneur of the Year at the FDM Women and Technology Awards.I am a long-time champion of Women in Tech, and I am proud that I was one of the first participants in the Grace Hopper Women in Computing Conference series (way back in 2000) and more recently the LIFT Conferences in the UK.
