Diverse Leadership Experience: With nearly two decades in academia, I've held key positions as provost, dean, vice chair, director, associate director, program chair, and center head. My experience spans R1 AAU, R1 Land-Grant, R2, and system-based MSI regional comprehensive universities, equipping me with a comprehensive understanding of academic administration’s demands and strategic nuances.Proven Track Record in Enrollment and Retention: Throughout my career, we have driven significant improvements in student enrollment, retention, and graduation rates across multiple institutions. At Western Michigan University, our fall '23 first-year class achieved an impressive 16.3% increase compared to fall '21, while graduate student enrollment rose by 7.2%. During my tenure at the University of Kentucky, we achieved nearly 46% growth in applications and doubled the freshman class within three years.Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Results: We have increased diversity among students and faculty, and fostered inclusivity. At Western Michigan University, URM first-year enrollment increased by 14.5% from the previous year and 13.8% from fall 2022. At the University of Kentucky, we achieved a 150% increase in racial/ethnic diversity in the 2022 freshman class and a 20% increase in faculty diversity.Innovative Academic and Faculty Development: We have introduced initiatives that prioritize and reward innovative teaching and learning. At WMU, I spearheaded competitive spousal hiring offers and retention bonuses to attract and retain faculty talent with national and international recognition.Strong Philanthropic Efforts: As Dean at the University of Kentucky, I led efforts that resulted in a 104% increase in cash giving, a 43% increase in total gifts, and a 37% growth in the college endowment—underscoring my dedication to building a sustainable resource base for academic innovation and growth.Extensive Research and Scholarly Contributions: I have authored over 70 publications, book chapters, and policy reports. Recognized by EdWeek as one of the Top 200 education scholars (top 0.1% nationally) for nearly a decade, my work is distinguished by its focus on equity and transformative educational policy.High-Level Public Communication and Advocacy: I have provided expert testimony at the United Nations, U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, U.S. Senate and House, and state legislatures, and have advised presidential and gubernatorial campaigns. I have also appeared on Al Jazeera, ABC, CBS, PBS, NPR, and MSNBC to discuss key issues in education and equity.
