I am an author & researcher based in the Highlands of Scotland. My work focuses on questions of landscape, people, and heritage in a variety of contexts, from the bothies of the Scottish Highlands and non-conformist religious communities such as Mennonites in Europe, America and the Global South. Her latest book, Bothy: In Search of Simple Shelter, is published in May 2024 with William Collins.I am also a highly driven and professional leader, communicator and educator with extensive skills in management, strategy, outreach and enterprise. I am passionate about learning, development and research but also the environment, social enterprise and charitable projects. Over the last ten years, I have worked as a lecturer in academic institutions where I have honed my abilities as an educator, communicator and manager, but I have combined this with voluntary and part-time positions in conservation and environmental organizations, sports coaching, founding a gym in Oxford, and acting as CEO and founder of the National Governing Body for the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the UKBJJA. I have a deep interest in both education and inspiring people to develop but also tackling the global problems that face us in relation to the environment and climate change, evidenced by a recent decision to do an MA in Environmental Humanities. I am a driven, resilient, and innovative leader, and open to roles that allow me the best opportunity to deploy my skills in strategy, communication, people management, networking, and finance.
