Kathy Glatter has always felt that getting the best academic background is an excellent way to be prepared for the future. She excelled at Blue Valley High School, taking virtually every honors and accelerated class available. She was named as a Commended Scholar on the national PSAT college aptitude test. Dr. Glatter designed a year-long research project her senior year in high school which taught her the basics of scientific research. She looked at the effects of different cardiac drugs on the hematology in lab animals, which was a novel question (particularly for a high schooler) at the time. Kathy Glatter ultimately won first place in a tri-state regional science competition run by the Army Science and Humanities science competition. She competed with her science project there at the national level. At Northwestern University, Dr. Glatter again excelled by graduating in 3 ½ years with a major in Neurobiology and Physiology. This degree gave her an outstanding foundation in understanding how the body works, which proved to be invaluable in her current career as a physician. Kathy Glatter was named to Phi Beta as a college junior and ultimately graduated in the top 5% of her class at Northwestern University based upon the grade point average. Being awarded a DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) Scholarship from the German government fulfilled a lifelong dream of hers to study in Germany. Studying the German language for 5 years in high school and college allowed Kathy Glatter, MD to enroll as a student at the University of Bonn for a year to study Health Care Policy and Art History. As a student at Harvard Medical School she worked with the best and the brightest in the nation, ultimately graduating “Cum Laude,” or With Honors from there in 4 years.
