Topic EditorThe role of gamma delta (γδ T) T cells in cancer cell-based immunotherapies is currently under investigation, but has not been fully elucidated. γδ T cells constitute 1-10 of total T cells subsets in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs).Significance of using γδ T cells as cancer cell-based therapies is that unlike other T cells subsets (CD8+ T cells), killing activity of γδ T cells is independent of MHC-class I- mediated antigen presentation. This characteristic of γδ T cells is like natural killer (NK) cells, and would help cancer patients those have defective NK cells.The subject of this research topic focus on strategies or methodologies established to prepare γδ T cells for cell-based cancer immunotherapies. This section solicits the articles, review articles, commentaries and perspectives in the areas of γδ T cells biology and novel expansion/proliferation methodologies and/or related fields those focused on presenting significant role of γδ T cells as an effector component in the framework of cancer therapy. In addition, this section will focus on competed or ongoing clinical trial studies and case reports of using γδ T cells as cancer cell-based therapeutics alone or in combination with other cancer therapies.Manuscripts consisting solely of bioinformatics or computational analysis of public genomic or transcriptomic databases which are not accompanied by robust and relevant validation (clinical cohort or biological validation in vitro or in vivo) are out of scope for this topic.

CURE CANCER NOW OBJECTIVES1. Ensure adequate funding for cancer research by raising awareness among the population regarding the inadequacies in funding and the future of cancer research, in addition to actively raising funds to support cancer research.2. Ensure accountability of cancer researchers to individuals or entities who support the research by providing frequent progress reports.3. Provide acknowledgments of contribution to those who support the research.4. Establish strategic alliances between cancer researchers and funding entities to expedite cancer research.5. Accelerate the development of cancer treatments by funding basic research with potential to apply to patients (translational research).6. Increase communication between basic scientists and clinical practitioners.7. Provide incentives and ensure adequate support for the training and development of future cancer researchers8. Establish successful fund-raising activities by recruiting fund-raising professionals to the board.9. Establish a panel of basic and clinical scientists who will carry out the mission and the objectives of the foundation in addition to serving as reviewers for the submitted grants.10. Find and support cutting edge cancer research. Provide recommendations, suggestions and corrections for submitted grants.11. Seek corporate partnerships and alliances in raising funds.12. Organize regular meetings to discuss strategies to improve the function of the foundation.13. Dedicate manuscripts to patients who so graciously and courageously fight against cancer so that the scientists who usually carry the work in the laboratories and do not have contact with the patients realize that behind each work there stands a patient who is desperately waiting for a cure. In other words instill a sense of urgency in scientists to speed the process of discoveries.14. Dedicate manuscripts to those contributing financially to cancer research

The Graduate Writing Center offers a variety of workshops and programs throughout the year. During the summer, we offer various dissertation "boot camps" for graduate students working on dissertation proposals and dissertations. For master's thesis writers, we offer master's thesis boot camps or facilitated writing groups. We also organize independent writing groups in fall quarter, primarily for doctoral students. During spring break, we will be offering a dissertation boot camp for those in sciences and engineering.

The Committee's primary responsibility would be to monitor implementation of new graduate student housing policies and allocation practices and to annually determine graduate housing allocations and necessary policy adjustments based on actual experience. The Committee also would make decisions on other issues related to graduate student housing policy as identified by faculty, staff, or graduate students.
