Dr. Katina Fuller-Scott “Dr. K” Email and Phone Number
I'm passionate about creating & sustaining the BEST communities in which to live, learn, & lead. Moving leadership forward is how I do it. I believe we don't reach our greatest impact as leaders in part because we can get caught up in finding and doing what we believe matters and unconsciously create or perpetuate disconnections between who we say we are, what we say we do, and what really happens personally & in the communities we serve. Here's my journey from educator to social entrepreneur.Interestingly enough, as a child, I never imagined becoming an educator and definitely not a leader. I was great at numbers, analysis, patterns, & solving problems that I initially wanted to be an accountant. In college, I pursued accounting, and in my first class, I quickly discovered it was not the path for me, especially when my advisor said I was spinning wheels. Why? Because I took the same Accounting 101 class for two semesters with the same teacher, the same notes, and still failed...despite taking advanced math college courses in HS. It just wasn't where I was supposed to be.The summer after failing two semesters of accounting, someone asked me to teach Sunday School of all things to HS students. I was nervous yet excited and quickly fell in love with imparting knowledge and supporting them to become their best selves. I knew then I wanted to be an educator and impact change. So, I switched my major to Middle/HS Education. I love challenges! After teaching 3 years, I noticed disconnections. We had qualified, dedicated staff and resources, but couldn't reach our goals. It was frustrating and out of my control. We faced organizational challenges requiring greater leadership capacity in effective skill, strategy, & systems development. Up for the challenge to drive change, I earned a Master's in Educational Leadership, became assistant administrator, principal, & eventually earned a Ph.D. in Leadership.25 years ago, I stepped into my purpose as an educator & transformative leader. After 19 years, became a non-profit senior director of strategy, measurement, & analysis for 3 years. Now I’m a social entrepreneur who inspires, educates, coaches, & advises leaders, entrepreneurs and changemakers in education, faith, nonprofit, government, & biz communitiesPeople say, “Everyone needs their own Dr. K!” Why? Leadership is rewarding & hard work. I stand in the fire with leaders to mindfully, authentically, & courageously drive change.Feel free to send a direct message if any of this resonated with you. I welcome the opportunity to support you & your team.
