Responsible for providing leadership and support to assigned elementary schools; ensuringalignment of elementary schools’ Plans for Improvement with the school division’sTheory of Action; optimizing resources for assigned elementary school communities to achieve theschool division’s Redesign and academic achievement for all students; supervising principals of18 elementary schools; communicating policies, practices, and procedures to the staff ofassigned elementary schools; providing effective crisis and issue management support, and assisting with plans for and implementation of differentiated professional development for each principal. Developed and implemented a Division-Wide program to promote a pipeline of candidates for principals and assistant principals. Successfully increased the number of fully accredited schools within the supervised schools.

During tenure as a principal, I received the Leadership and Vision Inspiration Award. I Oversaw buildings of over 800 students and 100 staff members in grades PK3 - 5. Built a talented and motivated team of specialists, teachers, and staff that created a culture of high expectations and increased academic achievement. Built relationships with local civic leagues, faith communities, and parents.

As an assistant principal, in a Title I school, I worked for a well-respected principal who entrusted me with multiple responsibilities. As a principal involved in a variety of National programs, he traveled multiple times and was comfortable leaving me in charge. As an assistant principal, I implemented a baton troop with the students as well as a young girls club that concluded with a yearly Tea Social. In this urban setting, it was also critical to reach into the community, so I developed a neighborhood Storytime to reach students and families not yet enrolled in the school. During my tenure at this school, we were featured in Time Magazine for the innovative work happening at the school.

As a second grade teacher, I was often tapped by my principals for leadership opportunities such as mentoring new teachers, coordinating special programs for various recognitions and providing staff development. After being tapped for a special teaching position in a newly funded grant program I had the opportunity to implement a service-learning program for fifth graders as well as developing a banking program for the students in the school.
