I am a biographer for Mother Earth, using drones and satellites as my scientific illustrators. I'm obsessed with helping people understand more about Earth by viewing her from above. I do this through my teaching at James Cook University; outreach with teachers and students as the Co-founder of She Maps; and as the Co-founder of GeoNadir where we help people make decisions about the environments they care about with intuitive Earth observation data analytics.I have 25 years experience as an Earth observation / geospatial scientist, working in academia, government, industry, and the military. My projects have spanned a wide range of applications including mapping live coral on the Great Barrier Reef; developing workflows for using remote sensing in disaster management (floods, landslides, volcanic eruptions, and earthquakes); modeling the recreation opportunities in New Zealand; and using drones to map sea cucumber distributions. I advocate for FAIR data and diversity in STEM.Oh, and I twitch when you miss the Oxford comma.
