The Council of Representatives is the legislative body of APA and has full power and authority over the affairs and funds of the association within the limitations set by the Certificate of Incorporation and the Bylaws, including the power to review, upon its own initiative, the actions of any board, committee, division or affiliated organization. As California's only elected Council Representative, I attend two meetings a year and vote on APA issues brought before Council.

The Ethics Committee members are confirmed by the CPA Board. This committee serves as an educational resource for the membership by accepting calls from the membership for private consultation, referring individuals with a complaint against a member or members to the APA ethics committee or the appropriate regulatory agency, consulting with the CPA Board of Directors about professional and ethical issues of general relevance to CPA’s members, writing position papers for The California Psychologist, and offering workshops at the CPA annual convention. I was elected Chair for 2019.

Elected representative of APA Division 42, Psychologists in Independent Practice. Also serve as Chair of the Listserve Work Group, moderating a listserv of over 1000 psychologists and managing the team, coordinating with P&C Chair, and attending Board meetings.

Without My Consent is a project to combat online invasions of privacy. The website is intended to empower individuals harmed by online privacy violations to stand up for their rights. We focus on the specific problem of the publication of private images online and provide legal and non-legal tools for combating the problem. Our hope is that the site will inspire meaningful debate about the internet, accountability, free speech, and the serious problem of online invasions of privacy.

Organized a group in the Bay Area to provide a safe haven for mental health clinicians to gather, network, support, and consult around issues of sexual and gender diversity. We are committed to expanding affirmative psychological understandings of sexual and gender diversity, and to counteracting the historical and present day harm done by pathologizing diagnoses, stigma, and invisibility. We welcome both students and licensed clinicians and currently have over 300 members.

Responsibilities included establishing the social media presence for Division 42, acting as liaison with web design firm, updating web content, directing both the Division listserv moderation team and web committee, and establishing the CE committee.

Provided triage services to undergraduate and graduate students. Did phone assessments to ascertain the needs of students calling into the counseling center. Scheduled therapy and on-call appointments, as needed.

Provided brief therapy to highly diverse, largely international population of undergraduate and graduate students. Provided emergency on-call services. Co-led the Sexual and Gender Identity Exploration Group. Participated in staff meetings. Provided training and consultation in LGBT and other sexual diversity issues in college populations to Fellows and staff at Counseling and Psychological Services. Co-wrote APA Accreditation Self-Study for Counseling and Psychological Services Fellowship Training program. Served as primary Supervisor to a Postdoctoral Fellow.

Provided brief therapy to undergraduate and graduate students. Carried several long-term cases. Training included on-call crisis management, consultation to campus community, and outreach services. Partcipated in individual and group supervision, didactic trainings, staff meetings, and fellows process group. Consulted with multidisciplinary teams regarding multicultural issues, psychiatric medication, referrals, and eating disorders. Co-led grief and bereavement workshops for campus community.

Provided brief individual, couples, and family therapy. Received weekly supervision and training in working with children and families dealing with poverty, substance abuse, the foster care system, the involvement of child protective services, and issues of neglect, abuse, and domestic violence.

Invited by Mary Herget to provide live supervision for two therapists and their reflecting teams of approximately seven students each. Participated on weekly teams with ongoing therapy clients. Provided additional assistance as needed for semester-long course.

Provided individual, couples, and family therapy. Most of my clients were receiving Victim of Crime funding as the result of experiencing trauma. Worked with depression, anxiety, PTSD, domestic violence, and child abuse/neglect. Co-led adolescent group. Participated on weekly narrative reflecting teams and received weekly supervision based upon live and videotaped sessions with clients. Attended weekly trainings on therapy with children, families, and multi-stressed populations.

Provided therapy in a day treatment program for the chronically mentally ill. Led primary therapy groups and saw individual clients weekly. Co-led weekly activity groups (music therapy, sex education, daily living skills, and living with mental illness group) and provided milieu therapy for up to fifty psychotic clients. Responsible for conducting intakes, closing cases, and providing crisis intervention. Consulted regularly with other professionals.

Provided brief therapy and crisis intervention to university community. Provided longer-term therapy to families and couples. Participated in weekly trainings covering systemic and narrative therapy, staff meetings, group process and group supervision. Participated in weekly reflecting teams with families and couples. Received weekly supervision based on audiotaped sessions with clients.

Provided brief therapy and crisis intervention to university community. Involved with planning workshops, groups, and campus outreach. Participated weekly in trainings covering short-term psychodynamic work and Red Flags issues, staff meetings, group process and group supervision. Received weekly individual supervision based on audiotaped sessions with clients.

Provided counseling to high-risk junior high and high school students in grades 6-12. Led six groups and saw four individual clients weekly. Clients varied widely in ethnicity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status. Interfaced with families, school personnel, and social service agencies. Participated in weekly trainings and individual/group supervision.

Completed professional field evaluation on the 1st International Conference on Parents with Disabilities and Their Families. Consulted with Through the Looking Glass, the conference sponsor, and collaborated with team on how to conduct the evaluation, what aspects to assess, and what instruments to use. Attended the conference and conducted all stages of the evaluation, including coding and analyzing the results and writing the final report.

Provided intake and assessment of client needs through administration of a comprehensive evaluation which included assessment of psychological functioning. Conducted ongoing psychosocial case management. Received training in the social and practical daily aspects of living with AIDS. Provided emergency services to a clinically diverse population of clients—predominantly homosexual, transgender, and IV-drug-using people living with HIV/AIDS.

Provided information, education, and referrals about HIV and AIDS to anonymous callers on national hotline. Participated in 40-hour training program covering HIV/AIDS information and communication techniques. Attended regular inservices to update knowledge and skills.
