Both my higher education and private life have been spent in many states and countries gaining knowledge in topics inside and outside the classroom. My studies have ranged from fluid social studies and humanities for a BS in Sociology and Master of International Affairs (MIA) to constrained, strict sciences as a medical student and graduate researcher completing benchwork research and discovering and publishing novel adhesion molecules involved in heart development. My experiences prepared me to battle the challenges of healthcare from a unique perspective.Outside the classroom, I have dedicated time to learn and utilize Spanish, German, and French. I have lived in 6 states and 4 countries. I spent a combined 3 years working at a deli in Zurich, Switzerland. Before medical school, I started an international education consulting office and traveled between San Diego, CA and the Arab Gulf states leading an opening of an office in Doha, Qatar. I have consulted and guest lectured small businesses in Mexico City on the topic of plant-based and healthy living from a clinical perspective.Completing a year of residency in full-spectrum family medicine with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians opened my eyes to many of the shortcomings of our healthcare system, driving my desire to join a new wave of medical professionals that are changing the landscape of modern medicine. As a firm believer in access to healthcare as a human right, I strive to be involved in bridging the gap for the most vulnerable populations.
