Dr. Larry Johnson, Founder and CEO of EdFutures, a US-based 501(c)3 not-for-profit with a focus on education across the globe is looking for ways to help community colleges, universities, not-for-profits, and foundations restore the educational capacity lost in the pandemic. He served with distinction as director of that globally recognized effort which produced the acclaimed series of Horizon Reports that were used by over 5 million educators annually in 195 countries.Having served as president and senior executive at institutions in both the higher education and not-for-profit realms, he brings a wealth of experience to the projects and roles he undertakes. He has served in campus positions from professor to dean, CIO and provost, and president. His educational background includes an MBA in Finance and a Ph.D. in Education that focused on research and evaluation. Among much other recognition, Dr. Johnson has been honored as a Distinguished Graduate by his alma mater, the University of Texas at Austin.

Under my leadership, the consortium and its members dedicated themselves to exploring and developing potential applications of emerging technologies for learning, research, and creative inquiry. The consortium's Horizon Reports, which I founded and directed for more than a decade, are regarded worldwide as the most timely and authoritative sources of information on new and emerging technologies available to education anywhere. -
Founder/DirectorNmc Virtual Worlds 2006 - 2009NMC Virtual Worlds began as a collaboration that included nearly 200 institutions at its peak, and after 10 years, continues to operate in the Second Life virtual world platform today. More than 14,000 individuals from 54 countries were involved in the project in 2009. Launched publicly in June 2006, NMC Virtual Worlds generated more than $1 million USD per year in revenue between 2006 and 2009, all from operations that were entirely conducted in Second Life. NMC was among the very first educational organizations to enter Second Life, and by any measure had a profound impact on the adoption of virtual worlds by academia.

I served as Chief Executive Officer and provided leadership in the areas of fund raising, instructional technology; the development and management of fiscal and human resources; partnerships with business, industry and labor; continuous improvement; educational collaboration, and policy governance. Reporting directly to the president were five vice presidents, the Director of Human Resources, the Foundation Executive Director, an executive assistant, three support staff, and an intern. -

With an approximate annual enrollment of 4,800, the college offers a full range of transfer and technical programs, and is a major provider of training to area business and industry. The college operated in a Continuous Quality Improvement environment and had a strong faculty union. Supervisor: President.Responsibilities: Served as Chief Academic Officer and Chief Technology Officer, and provide direct leadership to a range of college units including Instruction, Student Services, Distance Learning, Computer and Communications Services, Learning Resources, Educational Catalyst Center, Center for Learning Achievement, Child Care, and Intercollegiate Athletics. The League represents 20 leading community college districts in 15 states with 56 individual colleges, more than 600,000 students, and some 25,000 faculty members. The League-sponsored Alliance for Community College Innovation (ACCI) represents more than 650 two-year colleges in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. I aided in setting policy and strategic direction; led the Information Technology Initiative; generated significant revenue, wrote grants and proposals; and served as editor of several national publications, including Leadership Abstracts and Signals. Responsibilities also included the solicitation and management of corporate partnerships; and the leadership and management of the annual Conference on Information Technology.
