The work entailed the following:• Hydrothermal synthesis of tin disulphide, an inorganic component of graphene. • Characterization of as-synthesized nanoparticles using Raman Spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Transmission Electron Microscopy were used as nanostructure characterization techniques. • Humidity and alcohol sensing application of tin disulphide. Under the guidance of Dr. Parag Adhyapak and Dr. Imtiaz Mulla, I worked on project titled "Synthesis and characterization of Impurity doped Zinc Oxide nanoparticles and their gas sensing properties".This work constituted the following:• Hydrothermal synthesis of ZnO and erbium doped ZnO.• Characterization using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy and UV–visible spectroscopy. • Sensing volatile organic compounds such as acetone, ethanol, ammonia, triethylamine (TEA), ethylenediamine (EDA), formaldehyde and dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) using ZnO and Er:ZnO.
