About Lori Andrews, Ed.D.
How does the field of trauma inform the field of education? I am passionate about finding a way to help educators understand and learn why they are seeing student behaviors of defiance, opposition, disruption and dysregulation - there ARE answers! Over the last 12 years I specialized in working with students with emotional or behavioral problems. My doctoral research looked at what these students had in common prior to being identified as special needs. No surprise - chronic trauma and broken family systems.My passions include: -helping educators understand the role that adverse childhood experiences plays in student behaviors, school refusal and failure, and how educators can change their practice to support all students.-helping children, youth and adults find their way through the challenges before them, learn to accept and believe in who they are, and work towards becoming their best self.-and helping administrators and educators find ways to best support the students they have in their schools. Not the students they used to have, or the students they wished they have, but the ones who arrive every day.Specialties: Public Speaking & Education about Disabilities, Behavior Management for students with emotional or learning struggles, ADA training for staff, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disturbance, Mild/Moderate Disabilities, Transition Specialist, helping parents and students prepare for and plan for their future.
