The Contemporary Elder Institute is in the business of transforming nearly retired or retired professionals facing the issues and concerns of loss of purpose, identity, relationships, evaporating youth, and loss of self-worth. An existential shift in being from older to elder occurs. Elders experience greater peace, power, joy, difference-making and spirituality.

In a crisis or difficult situation, wisdom eclipses everything else. I have been consulting and coaching provider-owners and healthcare organizations since 1984. Our work is with leaders who are committed to transforming healthcare so it works better, costs less and delivers better health outcomes. Our job is to enhance a leader's capacity to effectively move their organization so it delivers on its vision, keeps on purpose, and operates with and inside integrity. Our clients are those leaders who are up to impacting the system and leaving a legacy.

My work is with the leaders on the healthcare industry, from provider-owners of individual practices, managed group practice to very large hospital systems. And given what is occurring today, leaders in healthcare are under enormous stress. Bringing wisdom to their work makes a tremendous difference in their ability to handle stress, be thoughtful about how to approach critical situations, how to deal with the multitude of stakeholders and patients, and gives leaders greater peace of mind, grace, and effectiveness.

I taught primarily in the Graduate Periodontics department but also some in the undergraduate clinic from 1975 to 1978-1979.
