Dr. Mariana De La Garza is an expert in performance and motivation with a deep focus on leadership and organizational development. She currently leads the creation and development of Zoox’s Learning and Development department. She has previously held faculty positions in Southern California as a Counselor, Program Manager, and Professor.Her expertise has helped teams uncover the root-causes behind low retention, lack of motivation, performance challenges and burn-out. Her services include a practice first approach that focus on practical application and adopting behavior change quickly. Additionally, she serves as an Executive Coach and facilitator with an approach that is focused on a self-discovery process through feedback and gap analysis to improve interpersonal behavior. She also continues her research on imposter feelings and how it can impact personal productivity, performance, motivation and mental wellness.The list of entities she has worked with vary across industries. Some of these include: The University of Southern California, Loyola Marymount University, University of California Los Angeles, Santa Monica College, Los Angeles Harbor College, West Los Angeles College, and has most recently conducted development workshops for Zoox, HashiCorp, XX Artists, and City Year.She is a passionate advocate for underrepresented populations and is a proud Latina in Tech. Her work is guided by the mission of educating leadership teams to understand how to embed diversity and inclusion practices into their employee development philosophies in order to foster an environment that provides psychological safety for all employees.Mariana lives in San Francisco, California with her husband, Mike. They have two sons, Santiago and Maximiliano.
