About Dr Mark Granfield Sfhea, Fcmi, Frsa
Mark Granfield is a British academic, curriculum leader, senior lecturer and educational business specialist based in Portsmouth. He is currently Deputy Head of Faculty at the Chichester College Group in West Sussex and has taught in Higher Education since 2001 in an array of disciplines including Business, Leadership and Change, Public Relations, Politics, Corporate Communication and Creative Media. As an academic, he has a PhD in Political Economy from the University of Exeter, he is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Mark’s career has taken him to the Middle East, Asia, Eastern Europe and North America and he continues to work as a consultant for political think tanks and educational organisations.Mark is also a highly regarded and committed senior leader in UK and international education, with extensive experience in managing the provision of Ofsted outstanding FE and TEF gold HE programmes. He has proven experience of leadership, development and the implementation of institutional and faculty level strategy, governance and stakeholder engagement, either working independently or as part of a team. He is highly accomplished in curriculum development, teaching, project management, policy and strategy development, research and in deploying innovation in educational services.Today he lives in Portsmouth and alongside his PhD he has a Postgraduate Certificate in Social Science Research Methods, a Certificate in Education, a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and an MBA in Strategic Leadership from the University of Portsmouth. He is also a Chartered Manager with the CMI. Between 2010 and 2015 he was Academic Dean with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in the United Arab Emirates. There, he launched and managed a new Applied Communications and Business faculty with undergraduate courses covering Politics, Business and Applied Media and led a team in securing funding from the US State Department. He worked with the UAE, US and UK armed forces to establish a cross national partnership and he was part of HCT’s organising committee for several high profile visits to military and educational events which included members of the UAE Royal Family and the diplomatic corps of the UK, US and Switzerland.

Head Of Digital, Creative Media & Performing Arts
Mark is responsible for the management and leadership of a range of both Further Education and Higher Education courses, alongside facilitating the development and implementation of growth strategies faculty wide. Within the role he has developed business cases and proposals, negotiated, communicated with and influenced colleagues, stakeholders and agents at all levels. As a line manager for staff and students, Mark promotes a positive culture of quality, diversity and excellence and is a member of CCG’s Higher Education Committee. His recent research output centres around disintermediation in communications, discourse of new public management theory, leadership and change, public administration, organisational behaviour and cultural representations through the mediaHe has won CCG’s ‘Inspirational and Innovative Lecturer’ award and continues to work with external stakeholders, government organisations and political institutions alongside his work as a historian at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth.
Programme Leader
Mark is Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Creative Media Technologies Top-Up Degree programme at Chichester College. In partnership with the University of Portsmouth, the course provides internal and external college students the opportunity to achieve a full degree through a step by step approach rather than by committing to a full three year programme. Although overall Programme Leader, Mark is also coordinator for the Vocational Project Portfolio module and Final Year Project module. He is a dissertation supervisor for student research projects and teaches leadership and management components and research methodologies.

Between 2004 and 2007, Mark was a Senior Tutor and managed and taught across all levels in Politics, Business and Media. He became a qualified Edexcel External and Internal Examiner and became an assessor for the OCR AS and A2 Media and Government & Politics examinations.
