About Dr Mark Granfield Sfhea, Fcmi, Frsa

Mark Granfield is a British academic, curriculum leader, senior lecturer and educational business specialist based in Portsmouth. He is currently Deputy Head of Faculty at the Chichester College Group in West Sussex and has taught in Higher Education since 2001 in an array of disciplines including Business, Leadership and Change, Public Relations, Politics, Corporate Communication and Creative Media. As an academic, he has a PhD in Political Economy from the University of Exeter, he is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Mark’s career has taken him to the Middle East, Asia, Eastern Europe and North America and he continues to work as a consultant for political think tanks and educational organisations.Mark is also a highly regarded and committed senior leader in UK and international education, with extensive experience in managing the provision of Ofsted outstanding FE and TEF gold HE programmes. He has proven experience of leadership, development and the implementation of institutional and faculty level strategy, governance and stakeholder engagement, either working independently or as part of a team. He is highly accomplished in curriculum development, teaching, project management, policy and strategy development, research and in deploying innovation in educational services.Today he lives in Portsmouth and alongside his PhD he has a Postgraduate Certificate in Social Science Research Methods, a Certificate in Education, a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and an MBA in Strategic Leadership from the University of Portsmouth. He is also a Chartered Manager with the CMI. Between 2010 and 2015 he was Academic Dean with the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in the United Arab Emirates. There, he launched and managed a new Applied Communications and Business faculty with undergraduate courses covering Politics, Business and Applied Media and led a team in securing funding from the US State Department. He worked with the UAE, US and UK armed forces to establish a cross national partnership and he was part of HCT’s organising committee for several high profile visits to military and educational events which included members of the UAE Royal Family and the diplomatic corps of the UK, US and Switzerland.
