Mobile platform also provides for continuous photo documentation, annotation, and indexed searching of all the events during assembly and testing for later comparison with spacecraft performance in operational use. -

The "Mars Images" mobile app delivers real-time updates of images and mission data from the Mars rovers Opportunity and Curiosity. Features include image browsing, interactive mapping and 3D mosaicking of images using high performance OpenGL. The application is free to download and open source on GitHub. -

Using 2D mapping and 3D interactive terrain visualization, this project established an order of magnitude increase in efficient, accurate process of mapping the location and movement of rovers on the surface of Mars. This technology is an integral component of the process that NASA uses to operate the Opportunity and Curiosity Mars Rovers. -
