With over 15 years of experience in clinical social work, I am passionate about teaching, mentoring, and supporting the next generation of social workers at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where I have been a Lecturer since 2018. As a Doctor of Social Work, and Licensed Social Worker. I have extensive knowledge and skills in providing recovery-oriented services to diverse populations with complex needs, such as acquired brain injury, mental illness, and substance use disorders. One of my specialized areas of focus is ambiguous grief and loss, which is the experience of losing someone who is still alive but has changed significantly due to illness, injury, or addiction. I have published a workbook on this topic, conducted research, and presented at national and international conferences. Another area of expertise is in AI and ethical social work practice. I have experience in hospital social work, mediation, and consultation services, which have enhanced my ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, foster positive relationships, and deliver quality care. My mission is to empower my clients, students, and colleagues to achieve their goals and overcome their challenges with compassion, resilience, and hope.
