As a diagnostic extern, I provided psychological testing to youth ages five through eighteen. Testing was provided in a private elementary and middle school setting. Children were referred for testing due to learning disabilities and neuropsychological impairments and were assessed through a wide variety of assessment tools. Conducted classroom observations and consultations with teachers. Was also responsible for writing comprehensive reports once testing was completed and provided feedback sessions to both the client and referral source.As a therapy extern, I provided long-term individual, couples, and group therapy to high-functioning adults seeking therapeutic services for a variety of reasons. Attended weekly group and individual supervision as well as case conceptualization presentations. Worked independently off-site in a private practice setting and was responsible for payment collection, all intake paperwork, recruitment of new clients, and maintaining notes for auditing and billing purposes.

Supervised and supported a staff of 15 people with various educational and professional backgrounds, including two Master’s level practicum students. Oversaw the daily functioning of two different locations for homeless, mentally ill adults while making sure overall program goals were met. Provided treatment plans and recommendations for all program participants. Monitored and assessed the mental health of 20 severely mentally ill adults and provided clinical interventions or hospitalized when necessary. Completed all intake assessments on new individuals who wanted to enter the program and made the decision on whether or not the individual was appropriate. Provided assessments upon intake, discharge, for substance use and abuse, and to assess severity of symptoms. Met deadlines for grant reports, met with funders for auditing purposes and advocacy of the program, and worked closely with community resources. Facilitated staff meetings as well as hired and trained new staff. In addition, I supervised a weekly group for LCPC eligible employees in compliance with state professional regulations.

Provided group counseling for support in symptom management, anger management, and cognitive behavioral therapy to groups of 15 adults with severe mental illness. Provided individual therapy to individuals working on recovery from severe mental illness using a variety of cognitive-behavioral strategies. Worked with families in order to assist and support clients in the therapeutic process. Maintained a caseload of 20 adults with severe mental illness that meant updating all paperwork including treatment plans and assessments as well as determining the most appropriate clinical interventions to assist in the recovery process. Worked closely with on-site psychiatrist to monitor medication side effects.
