Realness Institute is a nonprofit that provides support and training for the most exciting voices in the African screen sector. Our mission is to unearth the wealth of African stories told with an honest and unapologetic point of view by African filmmakers. Our first program, the Realness Residency, which started in 2015, has gone on to launch 30 film projects across 16 African countries in only five years. I worked with the jobs creation commission to assess the creative industries in Ethiopia and make recommendation to incorporation in the national jobs action plan. I subsequently became a member of the advisory council which I am still a part of.
