Biology Instructor

Greater New Orleans Area

Learning occurs in various ways for different students. I try to convey information in a variety of ways to help the retention of information. I enjoy board writing, modern movie style presentations, projects, reading assignments, and daily quizzes. I try to include recent information and fascinating facts to make them talk. People retain so much more information when they teach others. Students are most likely to discuss information when they are excited about it. My dad was an organic chemistry professor for years. He's my hero and inspiration. My dad makes learning fun. I grew up seeing how excited his students were to come to class. His classes stayed full.I make sure to be as transparent and available as possible. It's important to me to make sure each and every student knows what they will be tested on and how the tests work. Now, with all of the new technology, they can keep a watch on their grades. I make myself available to work with students. I believe as long as they're aware that I'm there, they'll utilize me as a resource. My main goal for my students is that they believe they are capable of learning. I hope that they realize how important just one person can be. That they grasp most of the concepts that they have been shown and are able to share those concepts with those people around it. They should end the course with a working knowledge of the topics.
