MJALLEN Ministries LLC is an educational services and philanthropic organization established in Maryland in 2011, providing academic support to low-income and underserved students using multi-sensory teaching/tutoring. The philanthropic arm Raising the Bar2, provides the tools/resources. Since 2011, over $150,000 in philanthropic services to twenty-five students at a combined twenty-five elementary, middle, and high schools was provided. The following is a high-level overview of the educational services:• Engages with underserved students in fourth-twelfth grades, OR, who may have specific learning challenges like Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Asperger's Symptoms, Executive Function, and on an Individual Education Plans• Develops student(s) profile, maintains records and a baseline to ascertain student’s strengths/weaknesses in phonics, coding/decoding, word study, spelling, verbal, reading/comprehension, writing, and vocabulary skills. • Collaborates with school administrator(s) to obtain permission for on-sight tutoring; to create an environment that allows students to receive maximum support.• Attends parent/teacher meetings, Back-to-School Nights, collect and review grade reports on a quarterly basis.• Meets with students one hour weekly, or often as needed, as agreed by parents and students. • Obtains important academic history, (i.e., Report Cards, Maryland School Assessment Home Report, and Composite Scores (Benchmark Test Performance)), to develop a customized program.• Reviews Individualized Education Programs, attend IEPs meetings, to represent students and parents, and provides guidance on IEP law and Special Education, federal statues (i.e., The Individual with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Family Educational and Privacy Rights Act).
