Michael McCarthy, DMD, believes that all patients deserve the smile they’ve always wanted. He is the founding owner and president of Birmingham Orthodontics, which he started in 1993 with the goal of helping as many people as possible by creating smiles that change lives.His dedication to helping others stems from his time in the military. Dr. McCarthy served in the US Army for ten years, completing Special Forces training and achieving the rank of Major. During his time in the service, he completed his orthodontic residency, and he is one of only a few Green Beret orthodontists in the country.Dr. McCarthy graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry before receiving his orthodontic training while serving his country. After his time in the military, he founded Birmingham Orthodontics, opening two locations in the Birmingham area. His practice has experienced consistent growth ever since and has now expanded to four locations to better serve the community.Dr. McCarthy is board-certified and has received multiple awards highlighting his commitment to excellence in orthodontics, including recognition as one of America’s Top Dentists by the Consumer Research Council of America every year for the past decade.
