Currently look after 100+ IT staff across 14 systems related to Cross Border Payments, FX Dealing, Exchange Control and Balance of Payment reporting in SA and FNB subsidiaries.

Architected the FxVantage application which became the new Cross Border Payments system. Exposed the FX products via an integration layer to Online Banking, Branch, ATM and Cellphone Banking, and integrated the deal booking and settlement into the banks core systems.FNB's MoneyGram offering became the first globally to be offered via ATM and Cellphone Banking.

Implemented the FX conversion for FNB's PayPal offering. The solution was exposed on the bank's integration layer and was responsible for the pricing, deal booking and settlement.

Team Lead/Architect of Volantis Storefront Upgrade project at MTN. Was also key developer on the Seam/J2EE-based MTN Xploaded Portal (a sub portal off the MTNLoaded Music page dedicated to local musicians).

Worked on the Java based Sirius Application Development Framework, and developed the Sirius Presentation Development Framework based on Apache Wicket.

Team lead and one of the main developers on the Satrix ETF Investment Plan Administration System at AOSL, a Java-based web services enabled back-end with a Macromedia Flex front-end, which integrated with the Flex Cube administration engine (3rd party application developed by IFlex). The system was implemented using Services Oriented Architecture principles, reusing existing security and document handling services, and exposed domain services which were reused across the administration system, investor portal and broker portal. In a subsequent phase, I was also involved in rewriting the Investor portal in HTML using Apache Wicket.

As Systems’ architect, I worked on the following projects:* an investigation into the feasibility of using IBM’s Insurance Application Architecture (IAA) as the basis for implementing a Single Underwriting System* key member of an initiative to adopt the ACORD P&C XML standard as a common electronic data interchange format for the Short Term Insurance Industry in South Africa. Responsible for developing and reviewing ACORD examples messages, construct documents and presentations to Insurance companies, brokers and broker solution providers.* core member of Single Insurance System team (4 business analysts, 1 architect, 1 project manager). Together with team, responsible for identifying possible core insurance solutions, evaluating the solutions as part of an RFI process, coordinating vendor presentations and prototypes. Other responsibilities as Systems’ Architect included R&D, product evaluation, prototyping, and writing proposals/recommendations.
