About Megan O'Banion, Psy.D.

My academic and clinical leadership spans a wide range of areas within the health professions, with particular expertise in adolescent psychology, trauma, support for underserved populations, program development, and evidenced-based community outreach. My clinical expertise includes school-based, community clinics, research consortiums, day treatment, residential, and inpatient hospital setting. I have completed an APA Clinical Psychology Predoctoral Internship with Sharp Healthcare (three rotations, all inpatient units spanning from children to older-adults) and an APPIC Postdoctoral Fellowship with the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Program at Sharp Healthcare (acute ICU for ages 5-17).My passion for clinical training, pedagogy, advocacy was sparked by wonderful mentors in my graduate training at the Wright Institute, Berkeley CA. My commitment to community-based program development and evaluation, excellence in higher education and the health professions, and also to preparing leaders who leverage their expertise in service of at-risk and high-needs populations. Lastly, I continue to advocate for quality training and for the profession as a whole. I demonstrate this through professional activism both at local and national levels. I have been honored to be elected into positions serving on the Board of California Psychology Internship Council (CAPIC) where I have served as Vice-Chair to Chair, and now Secretary, as well as within the National Council of Schools and Programs in Professional Psychology (NCSPP). My commitment to doctoral education and training has expanded in my service to NCSPP that has also extended from Women's Issue Committee Vice-Chair to Chair, from conference planning committee member (2015) to Chair (2017), the President-Elect (2017) position, and now the President (2018).Sincerely,Dr. Megan O'Banion
