I’m Dr. Monique May, also known as the Physician In The Kitchen, and I’m a board-certified family physician passionate about helping busy households embrace healthy, plant-based eating without disrupting their hectic schedules. My mission is to fix America’s health, one plate at a time.After practicing clinically for over 20 years and beginning my own plant-based journey, I attended vegan culinary school, where I learned to prepare plant-based meals that are both delicious and nutritious. I’m a two-time best-selling author, including my first cookbook, Doc Fix My Plate! The Physician In The Kitchen's Prescriptions For Your Healthy Meal Makeover, which features recipes inspired by family favorites passed down from my grandmother and mother, along with "vegan-ized" versions of common dishes. I’ve also created a vegan Worcestershire sauce that is available at www.physicianinthekitchen.netI provide online courses on plant-based cooking, along with personalized one-on-one virtual cooking classes, coaching, and consultations. I am also a dynamic and engaging speaker specializing in topics such as food as medicine, the benefits of a plant-based diet, women’s health and wellness, mindset resetting, meal planning, and the power of positivity.I’ve been quoted in several news outlets, including MSN and Yahoo News, and I’ve partnered with corporate entities like Denny’s Restaurants, Ingles Markets, and Saratoga Olive Oil Company.Although I’m a native New "Yawk-er," I fell in love with North Carolina during my days as a Tar Heel in Chapel Hill. After attending medical school at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, I moved back and settled in the Charlotte area. When I’m not busy creating recipes in my kitchen (or my “lab,” as I affectionately call it), I love visiting farmers' markets, shopping for kitchen gadgets, traveling, and exercising.
