I worked on over 20 research studies in the course of my time at UC Denver. I worked within the Children's Hospital Emergency Room screening and approaching patients that potentially qualified for any of the various research studies our department was conducting. Some specific areas of research included ED STARS, an adolescent suicidal ideation study, and FLUID, a study looking a treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis, both of which were nation wide studies from PEACRN. Other studies included simple questionnaires about burns and appendicitis, new forms of imaging studies for suspected trauma, and various blood sample processing studies looking at device or antibiotic effectiveness. I left after my short year there to continue pursuing my career as a physician by moving to Omaha, NE and attending medical school.

While intern at Creighton Summer Conferences it way my job to first assist the director with any assigned tasks including preparing for the first guests to arrive on campus, planning new staff training, and organizing the students transitioning from academic year housing into summer housing. I was also kept on part time throughout the following academic year to help finish financial reports for university fiscal year and planning for the next year of summer conferences. This including helping post, interview and hire for all summer staff positions, approaching clients to make reservations, and helping plan dining hall use and building maintenance. I quickly gained understanding for the system that was already in place upon my starting in the department and implemented changes for more efficiency and fully integrated myself into the department of Residence Life. The next year I was hired on as assistant student director and worked as the on-site manager of daily operations while the director worked long distance. I eventually became the interim Student Director while the full-time director position was filled. I remained on staff after finishing my undergraduate degree to help transition the new director through his first summer in the position.

I provided the healthcare necessary for daily activities for each resident as needed including dressing, toileting, and all hygiene needs. I also interacted with family of residents to help them and their loved one feel comfortable in our facility. I learned the skill of reporting and patient hand off and developed much of my bedside manor.
